Operation and Engineering Task Group
The FSAN Operations and Engineering Task Group has the objective of enabling a full interoperability of PON systems based on FSAN/ITU-T specifications in a multi-vendor scenario. The group has worked on the BPON and GPON interoperability since the consolidation of the first Recommendations of the G.983 and G.984 series. Since the beginning of 2011, the group is focusing its studies on XG-PON1 technology.
The main activities of the FSAN Operations and Engineering Task Group are outlined below.
Editing Interoperability Test Plan on Physical and TC Layers
This task has been successfully handled in the past and an official ITU-T document is available on GPON technology. Work on the XG-PON1 Test Plan started in 2011.
Interoperability Test Events
Since June 2010, FSAN events are now open to Broadband Forum members, thanks to the efficient collaboration between the two bodies. In 2011 FSAN held the first XG-PON1 interoperability event.
FSAN OMCI Implementation Study Group (OISG)
OMCI Implementers’ guide written by this group is now an ITU-T Recommendation. This group is now in charge of describing OMCI messages sequences for the Broadband Forum conformance document (WT-247).
